3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Provide and operate the Service — create and manage your account, display your profile, power discovery and matching, deliver messages, and process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
  • Personalise your experience — show relevant profiles based on your preferences, location, and activity; apply filters you set (e.g., age range, distance, mode).
  • Communicate with you — send push notifications about new matches, messages, and activity; provide service announcements, security alerts, and support responses.
  • Safety and integrity — detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, policy violations, and other harmful activity; enforce our Terms of Service; verify accounts.
  • Improve and develop — analyse aggregated usage trends, debug issues, conduct internal research, and develop new features.
  • Legal compliance — comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing are:

  • Contractual necessity — to perform our agreement with you and provide the Service.
  • Legitimate interests — to improve and secure the Service, prevent fraud, and conduct analytics, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — for processing location data, sending marketing notifications, and any processing of special-category data (e.g., sexual orientation) that you voluntarily provide.
  • Legal obligation — where we must comply with a legal requirement.

You may withdraw consent at any time through your device or in-app settings without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users — your public profile information (name, age, photos, bio, interests, prompts, and approximate distance) is visible to other users of the Service as part of the matching and discovery features. Exact location coordinates are never shared with other users.
  • Service providers — trusted vendors who assist us with hosting (cloud infrastructure), analytics, push notifications, customer support, payment processing, and other operational needs. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may only use it to perform services on our behalf.
  • Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Reshuffl, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, asset sale, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
  • With your consent — in any other circumstance where you have given us explicit consent to share your information.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and fulfil the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your account, we begin the deletion process promptly. Certain data may be retained for a limited period where we have a legitimate need or legal obligation, including:

  • Records required for financial, tax, or legal compliance.
  • Safety and fraud-prevention data (e.g., records of blocked or reported accounts) to protect the community.
  • Anonymised or aggregated data that can no longer identify you, which may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

Chat messages are deleted from our servers when both participants have deleted the conversation or their accounts. Media attachments follow the same retention schedule.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted storage at rest for sensitive fields, secure authentication flows, and access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
